Porto Vecchio & Sartene in Corsica, France

Today we changed ports and docked further up the island of Corsica into Porto Vecchio. I didn't get to see the town because I got to escort a tour to see a medieval town about an hour away. The drive was beautiful and reminded me a little of home. There were mountains all around and huge green meadows with lots of cows, horses, sheep – we passed several of these farms – but not like the factory farming you see back home. The animals were free to graze on the grass, there weren't a million of them crammed into a small muddy place – it was beautiful. We also drove along the coast and stopped to take pictures of their famous rock formations. There was the famous lion, and we also saw an elephant one. The town was a cute old French town. We walked up to the main square where there were people sitting around and several boys playing soccer. Our guide took us into an old church – with a burnt out pipe organ, but there was construction going on which made it hard to hear the guide, so that visit was shortened. She then took us into another part of the village where the walkways are so narrow. I find it just fascinating that I am standing in a place that people hundreds of years ago stood. We had some free time at the end of the tour and I wandered around into shops. There were several cute dogs out side shops, but my absolute favorite was this English Bulldog in an aromatherapy shop. He was so cute!!! I let him sniff my hand and then he was sniffing my pants and soon was jumping up on me as I petted him. Then -the best part – he led me to his little bed, where he pulled out his 2 toys to play with!! So cute!! I didn't want to leave! And it was hard because he looked at me leaving with a toy in his mouth and those sad eyes – AH! We boarded the bus shortly after that and drove back to the port. Beautiful, beautiful day.
