Okayama
And Horry Word was right here in Japan
We arrived in Okayama in the late afternoon (after a couple hours train ride). Since I've been here twice before, and I had a spare hour, I headed out to my FAVORITE store in all of Japan: the hyaku yen shoppu - the hundred yen store ($1 store)! It's 4 floors of pure cheap delight and with my hour, I only explored the bottom floor. We have a day off here tomorrow, so I will have time to see the others...heehee!!
Real live Sumo Wrestlers at the train station!
We performed in a club called Desperado tonight. And we were the ones deperado.....for an audience. Since we are a new group and unknown, our first couple of performances have been small. We are paired up with a couple of well known horn players through just about the rest of our trip, so we will see bigger audiences. This is more like a promo tour for us, to get the word out. I am happy with starting off with the smaller audiences because we can practice our banter onstage in English and limited Japanese.
Our show last night was tighter, and each time we sing we get better. AND the sound system was great! A funny thing happened onstage: Dina asked me for my word of the day (I have been doing that since we've been here) and I said "momo", which means peach (which Okayama is known for). A woman in the audience yelled out what we thought was "bitch". Come to find out later she was saying "peach"! She knew the English of my word of the day, but we couldn't understand her accent! So she will forever go down as the woman who called us a bitch! lol
We had time to kill at the club before we started our set, and there was this giant fan, so we all started playing. I'm Super Sequin Gal...
Kara is Mesmerizing Giant Sparkle Earring Gal...
And Dina is Many Flying Scarf Gal
Word of the day: MOMO (peach)
She's addicted
