Cape Town, South Africa!

Yea!! I made it!

Lucky for me, some friends of Helli's & mine (they cruised on the Shadow last year and live in Austria near Innsbruck) were vacationing nearby and offered to pick me up and take me to the ship. They were staying at a hotel right next to where the ship was docked, so it worked out great!

Here are some pics going through immigration and out into the airport:

Driving from the airport to the ship - my first views:

They drive on the left here

There was a huge "Shanty town" off the freeway (a whole community of rundown created homes of corrugated metal and whatnot)

African trees

And then....we were there!!!! My first view of the Wind (from the hotel next door):

We walked down to the ship (with my luggage), and there was my love at the gate! It's been over 4 months since we've been together - our longest apart - so it was so great to see and hug him!! We made our way onto the ship, dropped off my luggage and then I went on the upper deck (Helli had to go back to work - it was Embarkation day) and took some pics.

This is looking one way across the ship

And this is looking the other way - at the famous Table Mountain (can you tell why it's called that?!)

I took this picture at boat drill of the clouds rolling in over Table Mountain - what the locals call the "tablecloth"

I am so excited to be here and so very exhausted as well. I tried to take a little nap before dinner, but my brain was too busy - lol. We had dinner with our friends and then bid them farewell after. Helli & I had an early night and I slept very very well (so nice not to be in an airline seat)!
