Engrish
Engrish is what we gaijin here call Japanese English. It is when the Japanese try to speak or, as most often is the case, try to print english. There are many funny, amusing, and downright confusing signs and such with engrish. I am going to focus on t-shirts. You can't go shopping without seeing shirts with engrish (or people wearing them). The majority of them don't make any sense. It's like the shirt maker just picked a word out of the dictionary and thought, "Hmmm....this looks good". I found one such funny:
Do you get it? It works better when it is actually on - lol. Other times, the english is OK, but the spelling isn't quite right - and with funny consequences:
They just can't grasp our l's and r's! I had to explain this t-shirt to the Japanese girls I work with...they didn't see anything wrong with it!
I will take my camera with me next time I am out shopping and I will post more in the future. In the meantime, click the title to take you to the very funny engrish.com.
