Tokyo Disney Seas!

Today I went to Disney Seas with a few of my castmates. It was a nice day - sunny and not too cold (high 40's/low 50's). Disney Seas is the park immediately next to Disneyland (ala California Adventure & Disneyland). There weren't a lot of people so we got to ride all the rides (except Indiana Jones which was closed for maintenance!) and see all the shows. It is a beautiful park! You walk in to the Mediterranian Harbor, which resembles Venezia (Venice), straight ahead is a huge volcano (that erupts every now and then), to the left is the American Waterfront which features old NY and Cape Cod, continuing clockwise is Port Discovery which has Aquatopia - a cool boat ride that is run by remote control. You sit in 2 person "boats" and it follows an invisible track and spins you around - very amusing! Directly behind the volcano is the Lost River Delta - which resembles Aztec Mexico (and is where Indiana Jones is), next is the Arabian Coast which is basically Agrabar (from Aladdin), and then Mermaid Lagoon, and finally Mysterious Island which is under/next to the volcano. Inside there was my favorite ride: Journey to the Center of the Earth. It's like the Indiana Jones ride, but mellower - until the end! Fun! Fun!
We saw all the shows running in the park - and they were all great. It is fun to see the Japanese performers struggling with lipsyncing English as we are with speaking & singing it! All the "parades" are done in the big harbor near the entrance since there isn't a Main Street. We saw A LOT of characters - and they are awesome (and short!)! Here in Japan you see many of the characters you don't usually run into at home: Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, Scrooge McDuck, Marie, and the mice from The Rescuers. I guess it is because they can find short people to perform these small characters...lol! Tokyo Disney is known for having the BEST characters in the world, and I can definitely see why. They are truly amazing. AND they aren't accompanied by a foreman (as is the norm in the states). I guess it is because the Japanese are more respectful of them and the characters don't have to worry about being accosted or knocked over.
A couple odities: #1: Popcorn. The Japanese LOVE their popcorn at the parks (it is pretty much the only snack cart you see around). There are, I think, 7 different flavors in Disney Seas alone! Strawberry, Cappuccino, Coconut, Sea Salt, and Apple to name a few. I took pictures of some of the carts.
#2: I still can't get used to the characters speaking Japanese! Mickey pretty much sounds like Mickey - Donald too, but Goofy, Minnie, and the rest - it is so funny!
