My neighborhood
A little more info on E-Village, where I live, and the surrounding city, Urayasu.
E-Village houses around 200 performers at a time. Only Disney folk live here. The complex is composed of 3 buildings that make a square horseshoe shape. I am in the middle building, B. We have laundry here, on the ground floor - open to the outside. So it is a bit cold doing your laundry at night! They have little irons and ironing boards for use down there as well. The whole complex is very secure. We have electronic key cards to get in & out of the complex, and into our rooms. And only your key will work in your room (it controls all the power). When I take my key with me when I leave (it lives in a special holder by the door), all the power shuts off!
Right across the street is a Babies R Us (lol)and a D2 (like a Home Depot/Wal-Mart-ish), and a block away is a 7-11, and a big grocery/department store (Ito Yokado), and K's Electronics. The next block down is a big University. The area I live is not crowded and it's very clean. I am approximately 4-5 blocks away from the ocean. There are a lot of newly built apartments around E-Village, but no one lives in them yet. The one they are still building right behind I can see from my window and every morning the workers all do morning exercises together! It's a kick to watch.
A lot of people ride their bikes here. There are a ton of bikes parked at the train station. Most people don't lock up their bikes because they hardly get stolen. Can you believe it? I love how simple and trusting the Japanese are. It is so nice.
