Hanabi

Tonight was my first experience with a Japanese fireworks show. Called hanabi, these celebrations happen in various prefectures (cities/counties) throughout the late summer. These are not wimpy 15 minute shows, oh no! The shows here last about an hour and they shoot off anywhere from 7,000 - 20,000 fireworks!! I watched the one in my area tonight, and the whole town was there! Many people were dressed in yukata (the traditional summer kimono) - so many beautiful colors. The show was amazing!
