Barcelona, Spain

Barthelona! What a beautiful, clean town! And with lots going on! We are docked at a busy port – with a huge mall and sea dock/walk just across the bay. I slept in this morning - Paul left early for a tour, so I had the room to myself. I had a leisurely morning, did a workout, and then left the ship to explore the town around 1pm. There are several “places to see”, but I thought I would just wander and see what I could see – lol. They have a Columbus Circle here (similar to the one in NY). It's a tall ornate statue with lions at the bottom, people in the middle and Christopher Columbus at the very top if the spire – right in the middle of a round-a-bout. On our second day here, someone actually climbed to the top of it (no easy feat!). The police cordoned off the area, but I never saw the person or learned of the outcome.

I strolled along the marina and through the city. I saw a small Gaudi cathedral (famous architect here), which was kind of a medieval/gothic style – pretty neat. I found all the shops – including 2 H&Ms and 2 Zaras within the same 100 feet! I also found a cute little bar/restaurant that was serving a veggie burger with avocado! Yum! It was good, but they neglected to mention in the description that they put mayonnaise on the bun :( I ate around it. Sitting outside in the fresh air next to a very old cathedral made my day.

The next morning was Embarkation, so Kris &I got up early to run out to the Farmer's Market to get some fresh fruit juice.....but it was closed! Luckily, there was a vendor nearby selling fresh juice. There was also someone selling pets!! Hamsters, chipmunks (!), guinea pigs, fish, turtles, and the cutest little bunnies you have ever seen (besides mine, of course!)! Yes, I did want to take them all home. I guess it's a good thing I am on a ship and can't!
